As a parent I can say this book is Accurate!

The illustrations were cute and I like how the father encouraged the kid and made him feel secure in his imaginations and didn't just shut him down。 The book was a cute read but not really necessary to read to a class。 The illustrations were cute and I like how the father encouraged the kid and made him feel secure in his imaginations and didn't just shut him down。 The book was a cute read but not really necessary to read to a class。 。。。more

I love this book because it is a very accurate representation of my childhood。 There was nights that I would make up any kind of excuse to be able to stay up later, because I hated to go to bed early。 However this book is spot on with how it is trying to get a little one to bed。

A lot of children can relate to this book, they will find reasons to not go to bed。 However, as the dad keeps calm and stays with the child's reasoning of not going to bed。 Kids will always find a reason to tell you they do not need to sleep。 But clearly, the child gave in and decided that they needed rest。 A lot of children can relate to this book, they will find reasons to not go to bed。 However, as the dad keeps calm and stays with the child's reasoning of not going to bed。 Kids will always find a reason to tell you they do not need to sleep。 But clearly, the child gave in and decided that they needed rest。 。。。more

I loved “Little Critter” books growing up! This is a classic, and any kid can relate to imaginary play as LC takes on different roles as he plays, as well as doing everything he can to avoid going to bed。 Our library has the keepsake edition, and I love seeing the behind the-scenes illustrations of how the book was made。

Very amusing and humorous story。 While I was never quite this much trouble going to bed, there were a few times that I was tempted to act like Litter Critter。

"Just Got to Bed" is the story of a bunny and his mouse friend who enjoy exploring their imagination even though the bunny's parents want him to prepare for bed。 The bunny fights his dad until the dad joins in the bunny's role playing and plays the masked bandit who warns the bunny of needing to put on his pajamas or there will be consequences。 The bunny's mom is not seen until the end and then both parents work to get their son to bed。 Once the bunny realizes that even a bunny needs rest, he pu "Just Got to Bed" is the story of a bunny and his mouse friend who enjoy exploring their imagination even though the bunny's parents want him to prepare for bed。 The bunny fights his dad until the dad joins in the bunny's role playing and plays the masked bandit who warns the bunny of needing to put on his pajamas or there will be consequences。 The bunny's mom is not seen until the end and then both parents work to get their son to bed。 Once the bunny realizes that even a bunny needs rest, he puts his sleeping clothes on and gets into bed, "I'm a bunny and bunny's don't sleep in a bed。。。Well, maybe a tired bunny could sleep in a bed。。。。just this once。" A child's imagination is important to support and promote, however, every parent knows the fight when a child wants to play and not do as they command。 "Just Go to Bed" was both written, and illustrated, by Mercer Mayer。 Bright illustrations are mostly created on a white background to bring the characters forward and to remind the reader that the bunny's imagination is running wild throughout the book。 For scenes that the bunny's father or mother are involved in, the illustrations have an actual background and not just negative space。 The easier to read wording with shorter line length makes it a book that someone could read to a child or that a child could read to themselves。 Just remember, this book is not meant to support misbehavior but to support imagination when the time is right and rest needed for healthy growth。 。。。more

I have fond memories of the Little Critter books from my childhood, but now that I'm reading them to my own children "Just Go To Bed" isn't my favorite, I think because he is so disobedient in this story。 I have fond memories of the Little Critter books from my childhood, but now that I'm reading them to my own children "Just Go To Bed" isn't my favorite, I think because he is so disobedient in this story。 。。。more

I feel like these go to bed books always showcase an exasperated parent and although that may happen on occasion I don’t love the implications that it is a constant thing。

Mercer Mayer Little Critter books were a favorite read of my son’s。 As I have been pulling out his old books for our grandson, I am reminded why。 Fun characters partnered with a funny story。

This was an okay book which was about a bunny who wanted to do everything besides get ready for bed。 He used his imagination vividly, he was a zookeeper, a superhero, and even a train conductor。 Every time he went to play, the dad would have to stop him and get him ready for bed。 After a while, he finally got into the bed and went to sleep after his dad yelled at him。 The illustrations were nice, but didn't really grab my attention。 The book as a whole was fine, but it isn't something that I wan This was an okay book which was about a bunny who wanted to do everything besides get ready for bed。 He used his imagination vividly, he was a zookeeper, a superhero, and even a train conductor。 Every time he went to play, the dad would have to stop him and get him ready for bed。 After a while, he finally got into the bed and went to sleep after his dad yelled at him。 The illustrations were nice, but didn't really grab my attention。 The book as a whole was fine, but it isn't something that I want to repeatedly read。 。。。more

Just Go To BedThis is about a boy who is constantly using his imagination to play。 He is a cow boy, a space cadet, a robot, an astronaut, a sea monster。 His dad always plays along。 His dad calls him by the name of whatever he is while playing along。 “It's time for the zoo keeper to eat a snack”, “it's time for the space cadet to take a bath”, says the Dad。 all until it's time for the boy to go to bed。 This is a cute little book。 The illustrations are all on the white background。 Emphasizing what Just Go To BedThis is about a boy who is constantly using his imagination to play。 He is a cow boy, a space cadet, a robot, an astronaut, a sea monster。 His dad always plays along。 His dad calls him by the name of whatever he is while playing along。 “It's time for the zoo keeper to eat a snack”, “it's time for the space cadet to take a bath”, says the Dad。 all until it's time for the boy to go to bed。 This is a cute little book。 The illustrations are all on the white background。 Emphasizing what the boy is doing on each page, showing him dressed up。 The illustrations show texture, you can see the texture of the boy's hair, the texture of his fluffy pillow, the lightness of the bubbles in his bath。 The facial expression of the boy each time his dad tells him to do something great, you can see how annoyed he is。 I thought this book was cute, I just wish the theme was stronger。 its just basically how kids make excuses not to want tot sleep during bed time。 。。。more

This book is about how Little Critter doesn't want to go to bed。 Instead, his wild imagination is getting the best of him。 Every time he would begin a new imagination of adventure, his dad will tell him, "Get ready for bed," or "Go to sleep!" However, he wouldn't listen。 He became a cowboy, space cadet, race car driver and so much more。 He didn't actually go to bed until he became a tired bunny。 This book is so silly and fun。 Especially the illustrations。 This book is about how Little Critter doesn't want to go to bed。 Instead, his wild imagination is getting the best of him。 Every time he would begin a new imagination of adventure, his dad will tell him, "Get ready for bed," or "Go to sleep!" The story is told in personification through critters。 A young "child" has a huge imagination as all children do, and he plays pretend as all these different things such as "an astronaut" or a "race car driver" or even a "a sea monster"。 The only issue is that it is night time and his father is doing anything he can to get him to go to sleep, but the child is not tired and wants to keep playing pretend。 At first the father is nice about it, but it gets to the point to where the father i clearly The story is told in personification through critters。 A young "child" has a huge imagination as all children do, and he plays pretend as all these different things such as "an astronaut" or a "race car driver" or even a "a sea monster"。 The only issue is that it is night time and his father is doing anything he can to get him to go to sleep, but the child is not tired and wants to keep playing pretend。 At first the father is nice about it, but it gets to the point to where the father i clearly getting annoyed with the fact that his son will not go to sleep, so he gets a little more demanding。 The child ends up falling asleep after a long night of playing pretend。 Yes, the way i worded this review is very basic and bland, however, the story was very repetitive and bland。 Ninety percent of the story was literally this: The kid would say "I am a ___"。。。。 and the dad would respond "Okay ___ it's time to put on your pajamas for bed"。 I guess the moral of the story is that kids are energetic and they have big imaginations, but it is also crucial to understand that they must grow up and do what is needed in this case: go to bed when it's time)。 。。。more
